How it solves it

The cupboard under the sink is the worst-designed storage in most Australian homes. The waste pipe runs down the middle of it, the shut-off valves stick out at odd angles, and anything shaped like a simple box hits the plumbing and stops half a hand-width in.

So the space fills the only way it can. Bottles standing loose, the tall ones at the front, everything behind them out of sight until you kneel on the floor and take the whole lot out to find one thing.

A two-tier pull-out is built around the pipe instead of pretending it is not there. The tiers sit either side of the plumbing, and each one slides forward, so the back of the cupboard comes to you. Same cupboard, considerably more of it usable, and you can see what is in it from standing height.
