There is a wall of empty space behind your pantry door, and nothing in it.

A door sweeps the same arc every time it opens. The strip of wall behind it is some of the only genuinely empty space left in a small home, and almost nobody uses it, because a normal shelf is too deep to fit and a hook holds one thing.
